Chillhop Creators Guide: Account Setup, Crediting Rules & Removing Claims

Welcome! If you haven’t already, we encourage you to first check out our Chillhop Creators page to learn more about the program, policies and FAQs.

As part of the Creator program, we want Twitch and YouTube creators to be able to use our music in their videos without any copyright issues. You can even monetize these videos / stream with ads! The only thing we ask in return is for the creators to credit Chillhop so people are able to connect with us if they like the music.

The setup is a bit different between Twitch and YouTube, so please follow the steps below based on which service you are using.

Part 1: Create a Chillhop Creator account

Step 1: Go to the Creators Page and click “Sign Up” > “Connect my Channel” create an account (this is what we use to connect your Twitch or YouTube channel for credit-based music usage).

Part 2: Link your Twitch or YouTube channel

Step 1: Log in to your Creators account via the User Dashboard page or by clicking on the raccoon in the top right corner of the page. You can choose to create your Chillhop user account by connecting your Spotify or by entering your own email address. Once logged in, you can also update the raccoon icon with your own avatar. You can always access your user dashboard by clicking that icon.

Step 2: Go to the “Creators Dashboard” link on the left.

Step 3: Click the “Link Twitch Channel” or “Link YouTube Channel” button. This will pop a window prompting you to log into your Twitch/YouTube account. By granting us the permissions to view your channel’s username and your email, we can verify that you’re crediting us properly, and we can whitelist your channel from claims.

Part 3: Crediting Chillhop Music

Crediting on Twitch

Step 1: Go to your channel’s page on Twitch. For the updated Twitch layout, you will need to click on the “About” tab.

Step 2: Click the “Edit panels” toggle at the bottom. Here’s Twitch’s knowledge base article about Info Panels for more context.

Step 3: Click the “+” panel (usually at the bottom or end of your current panels).

Click “Add a Text or Image Panel.”

Add one of our crediting images to the panel. There’s a template to create your own image at the bottom of the gallery.

We varied up the colors, too!

Then, fill in the ‘URL’ field with this: https://chillhop.ffm.to/creatorcred

Click “Submit” – and you’re done! :)

Crediting Video Uploads on YouTube

Step 1: Click “Download” on Chillhop song of your choice and that will bring up a “Credits & Download” pop-up (make sure it’s not getting blocked).

Step 2: Please use the “Mandatory Video Credit” text and link in the description of your video.

(A little boring by comparison to Twitch, but it gets the job done 😉).

Crediting YouTube Livestreams (or stream exports to YouTube)

The instructions for crediting a live streams via YouTube (and/or streams that are being exported/ uploaded to YouTube) follow a similar credit standard as Twitch. All we ask during the livestream is to include the following text to the video’s description:

Music provided by Chillhop Music: https://chillhop.ffm.to/creatorcred

Clearing a monetization claim on YouTube

We know that sometimes you might forget to include the credit(s) in your video prior to publishing – or might simply have a typo in the credit/link. In these cases, you may receive a monetization claim from our system that will say “Claimed by FUGA on behalf of Chillhop Music.”

To remove this claim, all you need to do is copy and paste the correct credit(s) into your video description and then ‘Dispute’ the claim on YouTube – and our system will re-check to make sure the credit + link has been posted on the video and release the claim. :)
